The Jewish dog

I found this book at the library. It seemed quirky but potentially interesting. I’ve started to read it, but my feeling is it will veer into the trite and inappropriate.
The story of Jews in World War II through the eyes of a dog. Should I feel insulted at the desecration of Jewish memory? The Holocaust through the eyes and storytelling of a dog?! It feels dishonorable.
I was all set to return it to the library. Yet, i see it is well rated on Good Reads and Amazon. Should I give it another chance?

It’s such an unusual idea I think you almost have to read it!

That’s what I initially thought and then changed my mind. Maybe another time. Maybe when I retire and have more time on my hands.
