I CANNOT even talk about it
This is a response I have heard often recently when I initiate a conversation about politics.
This is a response I’ve given myself recently when someone initiates a conversation about politics.
It’s too much. I can’t. I just can’t, we all say.
I’ve yet to decide if this is good or bad.
Among my circle, we all agree. So if we talk politics, we’re lamenting, driving home our own opinions, reiterating what we know and believe and digging in further on it. Compounding it. Adding pressure and anger, frustration and despair and and and it’s too much.
I, you, he, she, we don’t want to talk about it because anger on top of anger hurts. It does not help. It does not make progress or make us feel any better in any way, except to remind us how right we think we are.
Perhaps what we need are logical, kind, dissenting opinions. People with whom we can rationally discuss how some of these makes sense to others. I have yet to find these people. Have you?
