Helping when you can’t help

April 26, 2017

Giving when you feel you don’t have anything to give. How can you help when you can’t help?

A friend has a major crisis with his home and needs a huge amount of money to do work on it. You don’t have a dollar to spare and can’t help. You can choose to feel inadequate or you can offer to babysit the kids while your friend does needed work.

Someone you love is in the midst of a relationship crisis and is in pain. You have only love and support to offer. It feels inadequate.

A professional acquaintance is looking for backers for a useful and relevant tool but you just lost your job.

How can you help when it feels like you have nothing to give?

Gratitude

Emotional support

Ideas and brainstorming

Nature breaks

In-kind services for free

Being there

Don’t have any extra money? How can you still help someone in your life?
