Metallic Rabbits

July 19, 2011

I’m a water rat, and my baby will be a metallic rabbit.

According to the Chinese zodiac calendar, my baby malina will be creative, compassionate, sensitive, friendly, outgoing and will prefer the company of others.  Serene, even. He may be classy, sophisticated, expressive, well-mannered and stylish and enjoy learning about cultural issues and learning about people from other countries. That last bit will be pretty necessary, as half his family will be in another country.

This is where my challenges will come in: “Even though Rabbits don’t usually get visibly upset or stressed, they do tend to keep these feelings inside.” I’m going to be in need of great parenting skills to instill in him a strong sense of self, confidence and worth.  Daunting.

You see, all the newborn, baby, first years activity doesn’t scare me too much. But adolescence? Teenage years? Holy shit! TERRIFYING!

I’ll cross that bridge soon enough. For now, I’ll continue to think happy thoughts about my baby metallic rabbit, prepare my brain and body and create his special space in our lives. Rock on, metal rabbit!

Ella and I are both roosters, I am an earth rooster and she is a wood rooster. Uh oh, it says we are least compatible with rabbits, as is the rat. Looks like we will all have to put in a lot of effort into our relationship with this kiddo. What’s Michal’s Chinese sign?

I don’t like the sound of that. I expect 300% commitment. Hubster is a fire dragon except the description on that site sounds nothing like him.

Oh right, the dragon. He just hasn’t come into his own yet and figured out what he is capable of. He needs to make it happen! I am fully committed to be the favorite auntee of this kiddo. Can’t wait to meet him.
